A closer look into Target's redesign of its flagship store in downtown Minneapolis
If you've visited the downtown Minneapolis Target store across the street from Target headquarters lately, you've seen the massive remodel is well underway! 2 months ago, Target announced a major remodel program to the flagship store and others across the chain to reflect new shopping behaviors. The next generation of Target stores include over 600 remodels over the next three years along side with new stores in urban markets.
These brand new stores are designed for the guest experience highlighting inspiration and ease. The design creates a new first impression, highlights signature businesses, and allows for discovery moments throughout the store. Sightlines are being improved to emphasize flexibility. Guests will notice digital integration and accelerated on demand shopping through order pickup and ship from store.
This remodel announces the most aggressive store transformation program in Target's history. What is different than this remodel program versus the P-Fresh remodel program from 5 years ago is that this program will impact almost every building in the chain. In addition to the 600+ full-store remodels over the next three years, hundreds of more segmented remodels will happen targeting areas of a given store based on specific guest needs.
Next Generation Remodel at Nicollet Mall (Downtown Minneapolis)
Target explains this remodel as, "a unique, timeless and modern design that elevates our flagship store in downtown Minneapolis". Here are some of the changes guests will experience when the remodel is complete later this year.
Ground-floor entry provides easy access to liquor store and clear sightlines into Food & Beverage, where a flexible fixture package allows a quick and easy shopping experience.
Apparel & Accessories and CVS
New look for A&A elevates the shopping experience through the use of mannequins, feature fixturing and accent lighting. The straightforward layout provides a clear sightline to CVS at the rear the skyway level.
Open ceiling, wood beams and wall focals, etched concrete floor, and new produce bins create a warm and inspiring Food & Beverage shopping experience.
Checklanes & Starbucks
Starbucks is prominently featured on the front wall of the skyway level. New checklanes reflect a modern, simplified look at the front of the store. Exchange & Returns features a branded red wall that highlights services. Updated fixtures clearly signal Order Pickup and Registry.
