Celebrating women around the world
How do you create a gender equal world?
For us, it's more than a day of cheer at the office. It's a commitment to take action throughout the year to support women at home and across the world. It's a mission that is near and dear to our hearts as a women owned business. Equality is not a women's issue, it's a business issue and we believe gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive.
A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious.
To forge a gender equal world, we need to empower women to break the cycle of poverty and gain economic independence. Jacobs is a proud partner of the Phakamani Foundation in South Africa and our commitment to empowering women to succeed at micro-enterprise brings us joy when we hear from the women that have received training, loans, and support from the foundation. Our partnership with Phakamani funds around 140 women-owned businesses each year and it's our privilege to share the faces of the women who are moving their family up the ladder and out of poverty.
This year's theme for International Women's Day (March 8, 2020) is "an equal world is an enabled world".
Today we celebrate. Today we take action.
Because women's equality can't wait.
We know that our small actions won't change the world overnight. What we do know is that we are all part of a whole and we need everyone. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets have an impact on our world. Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender equal world.
The Phakamani Foundation empowers women to succeed at micro-enterprise. Their training, group loans, and on-going support lead to family income, savings, and hope for the next generation.
