In mid-September 2015, Target launched same-day grocery delivery service by partnering with the delivery service Instacart in the Minneapolis market. The trial in Target's hometown was so successful, it is expanding to other cities which includes this week's launch in the San Francisco market - Instacart's largest market.
Jason Goldberger, president of Target.com and mobile said in a statement, "Our goal is to make grocery shopping easier and more convenient, so that our guests can shop Target whever, whenever and however they want." Partnering with Instacart gives the retailer access to new grocery guests and current guests who don't want the hassel of making a trip to a grocery store. Guests can order groceries online from their mobile device or desktop computer and have it delivered in as little as 2 hours. The standard delivery charge is $3.99 per order.
